Bespoke wedding invitations
Commissioning a designer like me to create original wedding invitations and on the day stationery is an amazing experience! I design every graphic element from scratch in the studio, which means you have lots of flexibility and can really express your personal style in a way that sets the tone for the whole wedding.
a talking point from the moment the envelope arrives through the letterbox
Whether you already have lots of ideas or need a little more inspiration, we’ll work closely together to bring my distinctive natural inspired style to designs that are uniquely you. There are so many options to choose from when you go bespoke, from beautifully tactile cardstock to elegantly calligraphed envelopes, to watercolour illustrated maps that are a real talking point among guests. All hand finished with the eye-catching detailing that we both love, elevating your invitations to the next level.
how much does it cost?
the design fee
When it comes to the cost of stationery, like most things this can vary massively. You wouldn’t go into a clothing shop and ask ‘how much are your tops?’ because they will all vary in price…the same goes for stationery!
For a bespoke White Olive stationery design you are not only investing in a custom design to perfectly suit your wedding style, you are also investing in a professional and reliable service that will take some of the stress away from your wedding planning journey.
From the private client design proof pages, approval systems and project management system, to the quality of the finished invitations, attention to detail and luxurious packages containing your prints. Every detail of the White Olive experience has been tailored to help you transform your ideas into a reality with no stress and a clear timeline of what you can expect from me at every stage.
The design fee starts at £600 for save the dates and/or invitations with the print/production costs in addition to this.
This includes the design of a standard invitation suite of 3 inserts (invite, details/information card and RSVP). If you are looking for any custom illustrations or hand written calligraphy this is an additional design fee and can be quoted on once I have some more information from you.
If you are looking to order wedding day stationery too (which most of my clients do!) to have everything from save the dates to your signage and thank you cards as a guide the bespoke design fee can be anything from £800 – £2000 subject to your requirements (plus the print/production costs).
print and production costs
The materials for stationery alone can vary from being a few pence per sheet to a few £s and then there’s the actual print process, any special finishes such as invitation suite assemble options and wax seals or calligraphy addressed envelopes etc.
A single ink print finish on 350gsm smooth paper is always going to be a much cheaper option than multiple print finishes such as hot foiling, blind debossing and ink printing on duplexed 700gsm+ paper which could be something like £7/8 per print for multiple finishes!
A bespoke White Olive invitation suite can range from anything between £10 – £25 each subject to the number of cards/inserts you need, the material, print finishes, assembly, finishing touches etc.
a guide for budgeting
Calculate your budget to be around 15% of your overall wedding day budget for your wedding stationery. This will usually give you enough to cover the bespoke design and printing of your save the dates and/or invitations as well as your wedding day stationery items.
If stationery is one of the most important things to you for your special day you might want to set a higher budget if you’re looking for show stopping signage, thank you cards and all the details in between!
