Warning: this post might make you more than a little hungry! A little while ago, I was asked by the lovely Fen and Alex (of MonAnnie and Alexandra Rose Weddings, respectively) to create some pretty calligraphy stationery for a brand shoot to celebrate the launch of their new venture, The Patisseria. Of course, I was happy to oblige! The Patisseria is an exciting culinary concept, blending Fen’s delicious patisserie and Alex’s style expertise to create a table of refined decadence. The result is, as they describe it, “A journey of the senses, a marriage of elegance and deliciousness… A luxury patisserie table with a selection of over 200 individually crafted patisserie paired with exquisite, timeless, fine art styling and florals.” If you’re planning a wedding here in England but love the idea of a romantic destination wedding in an Italian villa, then this is the perfect way to bring that feeling home!
To suit The Patisseria’s relaxed and elegant fine art style, the stationery needed to be pretty, light, and to feature calligraphy. I created tags on powder blue card, which was hand torn at one end, and featured a vellum overlay with white ink calligraphy. Both the card and the vellum layer were secured with a silver eyelet and finished with hand dyed blue ribbon, to match the colour of the card. I also created larger signs for main dishes on the same blue cardstock, that featured white ink calligraphy and my signature hand drawn leaf illustrations.
The eats included both sweet and few savoury offerings, including: pistachio and berry tarts, mini papaya panna cottas, peach and blackberry pavlovas, lemon and raspberry mousse domes, canele, chocolate mousse domes, sundried tomato and pesto tarts, and smoked salmon profiteroles. It looked (and I’m sure tasted) amazing!
Congratulations to Fen and Alex on the launch of The Patisseria – I look forward to seeing this new venture go from strength to strength!
